Work Experience

I live on my family owned working dairy and beef farm and began helping out from an early age. I always wanted to have a career involved in agriculture and really enjoy farming life although it can be a challenge at times. On leaving school, I began an apprenticeship in Agriculture at the Barony campus which is The Scottish Rural College. I really enjoyed the experience and particularly meeting other agricultural students from other locations throughout Scotland.

I currently drive the tractors and machinery on the farm which include a New Holland T5050, a New Holland TL90, and a Ford 3600, Work i have done is rolling , harrowing, slurry and muck spreading, grass seeding, hauling bales and scrap metal etc. I have driven telehandlers and have a qualification for it.

Hobbies and Interests

I have been an active member of Kilmaurs Young Farmers Club since I was 15years old. I have taken on roles as requested. for example, backstage help during concert, mock auctions and valuations, sports and driving events, bowling, badminton, go karting, stock judging. I love going to agricultural shows to meet people and support the event.

Outwith Young Farmers, I like to spend time with my friends, playing football or other sports. I have basic canoeing/kayaking qualifications.

I enjoy fixing and servicing the tractors on the farm and mending broken fences and machinery.

I like to be outside enjoying the fresh air and keeping active.

I am at least a 4th generation Ayrshire farmer and would really like the opportunity to not only appreciate the beautiful New Zealand scenery, but would love to drive bigger machinery than i am currently driving.
